Dr David Rae, MBChB (Honours), MRCOG is a highly experienced and respected consultant gynaecologist with almost 20 years of practice as a consultant in the NHS and independent sector. He has a First Class Honours degree in Medicine from University of Aberdeen in 1993 and graduated as top male graduand with a number of prestigious awards, including the medal for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Dr Rae previously trained as a physiotherapist, graduating from Queens College, Glasgow in 1984. He has been a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in NHS Ayrshire and Arran since 2003. He is passionate about all aspects of Women’s Health Care and has been responsible for the inception and evolution of many of the modern gynaecology services which currently exist in NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

He served as the Clinical Director for Gynaecology and Sexual Health for Ayrshire and Arran for 6 years. He has a wide range of skills within Women’s Health. In particular, he has advanced skills with respect to management of menopause, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, PCOS as well as paediatric and adolescent gynaecology. He runs a menopause clinic within the NHS setting and is a member of both the British Menopause Society and Scottish Menopause Interest Group.

Dr Rae has been a member of the Modernising Patient Pathways Programme (MPPP) Gynaecology group in Scotland since 2020 and has been influential in shaping pathways for women with heavy menstrual bleeding and endometriosis.
